Xth meeting of Expert Group on Key National Indicators under Board of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of CIS participating states was held in Astana
The meeting was attended by the representatives of supreme audit institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.
The Chairman of the Accounts Committee Mr. Nurmukhambet Abdibekov welcomed the participants of the meeting.
He noted that activities of the Expert Group become more topical as the key national indicators are not only the source of information on the economic situation but as well are an important tool for finding imbalances and disproportions in economic development and determination of efficiency of activities on increase of people’s living standards.
“In this sense issues of development and application of key national indicators (KNI) represent the special importance for supreme audit institutions which activities aimed at enhancement of efficiency, accountability, effectiveness and transparency of public management”, - Mr. Nurmukhambet Abdibekov emphasized.
The Department Director of the Accounts Chamber of Russia, Coordinator of the Expert Group Mr. Dmitry Zaitsev reported to the participants about results of the Expert Group on KNI activities for 2016-2017.
During the meeting the participants discussed issues on development of standards and methodology of KNI use in practice of supreme audit institutions of CIS participating states, functioning and further development of the Knowledge Base on KNI.
The Member of the Accounts Committee Mr. Konstantin Plotnikov informed about reforms in the public audit and financial control system in Kazakhstan focusing particularly on the new functions of the supreme audit institution, basic methods and approaches used during audit and expert-analytical activities.
Following the meeting the participants approved the Activity Plan of the Expert Group on Key National Indicators for 2018.
Key national indicators are indicators which measure economic and social progress in achievement of national goals in relevant fields.
The Expert Group on Key National Indicators under Board of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of CIS participating states was established by the decision of the VIII Session of the Board of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of CIS participating states which was held in September 2008 in Moscow (Russian Federation).
Group’s Activities promotes implementation of the regional pilot project of the Board of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of CIS participating states within the INTOSAI Working Group on Key National Indicators.
INTOSAI is an International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions which unites representatives of 191 United Nations member states. It was established in 1953. The Accounts Committee is a member of the INTOSAI since 2000.
