Specialists of the Accounts Committee participated in the XI meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Key National Indicators and the XI meeting of the Expert Group on Key National Indicators under the Council of the Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of CIS member states
The representatives of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of 15 countries and other international organizations took part in the INTOSAI Working Group meeting.
During this meeting there was exchange of knowledge and experience on the issues of development and use of the key national indicators (KNI).
It was noted that the KNI not only characterizes the state of the economy, but also are an important instrument for determination of the effectiveness of measures on improvement of the social well-being.
The representatives of the Accounts Committee made a speech about the use of criteria in the expert-analytical activity which allow to assess the state of the public finances and the rate of sectors’ growth in accordance with the aims of the program documents.
By results of the meeting the Action Plan of the INTOSAI Working Group for 2018 was approved. It was decided to hold the next meeting in 2019 in Slovak Republic.
During the meeting of the Expert Group under the Council of the Heads of the SAIs of the CIS member states the results of activities for 2017 have been considered and the Action Plan for 2018-2019 was approved.
Group participants discussed the issues of use of KNI in the SAIs activities. It was noted that use of indicators facilitates the complete assessment of implementation of strategic documents on social-economic development.
The INTOSAI Working Group on Key National Indicators was established by the decision of the XIX INTOSAI Congress in Mexico in 2007. The Chairman of the Working Group is the Chamber of Accounts of the Russian Federation. The mission of the Working Group is assistance to development and use of key national indicators in economic, ecological and social fields at the national and international levels.
INTOSAI is an International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions which groups together SAIs of 194 countries as full members and 5 countries as observers. It is listed as a support organization of the United Nations. INTOSAI was established in 1953. The Accounts Committee is a member of the INTOSAI since 2000.
The Expert Group on Key National Indicators under the Council of the Heads of SAIs of CIS member states was established by the decision of the VIII Session of the Council of the Heads of SAIs of the CIS member states, which was held in September, 2008, in Moscow (the Russian Federation).
The activity of the Group assist to the implementation of the regional pilot project of the Council of the Heads of SAIs of the CIS member states within the INTOSAI Working Group on Key National Indicators.
