The opening of the International Seminar of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) on "Information Technologies Audit" was held today in Astana

The seminar arranged by the Accounts Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of ASOSAI Administrator, the Supreme Audit Institution of Japan, will extend from 9 to 13 July this year.

The representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of 27 ASOSAI member states came to Astana to participate in the event.

At the opening of the seminar, the introductory speech was made by the Chairwoman of the Accounts Committee, Natalya Godunova.

The Head of the Supreme Audit Institution of Kazakhstan expressed her expectations to the participants regarding fruitful work, indicating the importance of such wide-ranging meetings, allowing experts from different countries to exchange experience and opinions on the most significant issues in the field of state audit.

She emphasized that in the conditions of digitalization of life, including public authorities, economy, IT audit and information technologies application directly in conducting audit become more and more important.

"In this regard, it is necessary to assess the effectiveness of information systems and the funds invested in their development. Thus, the role of state audit of the state programs implementation aimed at the introduction and information technologies development is growing.

IT audit has particular importance for ensuring information security, optimizing the costs of implementing and maintaining information systems of state organizations and their effective use, "said Natalya Godunova.

According to the speech of the Chairwoman of the Accounts Committee, audit also identifies and analyzes the risks associated with information technologies, which can be very significant and negatively affect different aspects of the institution or enterprise.

"The implementation of information technologies is very expensive. And it is necessary that they really cost the spent budget funds. The assessment of the quality of implementation, the efficiency evaluation of the IT control, management of IT services and IT processes are equally important,"- concluded Natalya Godunova.
